ok so i just found my old copy of Myth the fallen lords and decided to give it a go. i enjoy playing by myself but i remembered how much more fun the online play was so i have been attempting to register with bungie or whoever the hell is responsible at this point in time. first, how would i go about registering to play online and second, would it be worth it or should i just go get Myth II and then ask about registration?

Playing online is fun, if you enjoy being swore at and having captain take away all your units if you make one tactical mistake.

I'll point out that this website, Myth 1, Myth 2 and Myth 3 all use the same login and password. You only need to register one account for all 4.
i downloaded all the files from http://angernet.org/but it seems i do not the intro movies or the journals writers voice I think you downloaded a warez version. Go download an antivirus and scan your system: http://www.clamwin.com/ You can't trust warez to be free of trojans.
You can buy the Myth games from places like Amazon.com or eBay. The Myth 2 demo can be downloaded from http://projectmagma.net/downloads/
Playing online is fun, if you enjoy being swore at and having captain take away all your units if you make one tactical mistake. Not everyone will behave like that. Say you are a novice and find out who is naughty and nice.

Playing online is fun, if you enjoy being swore at and having captain take away all your units if you make one tactical mistake.
look at it as an incentive to improve quickly. if you are too fragile to deal with a little bit of verbal abuse from a complete stranger, stick to FFA games. if you really have the desire to play in 2 team games with the big boys, here are a few things to work on:
1. learn the common unit trades
Nothing pisses players off more than a captain that has no idea what to trade for, or how to properly distribute the units. A newb captain usually guaruntees a loss vs. a team with a competent captain. If you are unsure of a good trade, ask your teamnmates. Or save and watch films to see what the common trades are and how the units are dealt out. Here are a few common trades/hints to get you started:
Killing Grounds: 3 heron, 8 archers, 4 dwarfs, 6 ghols - DO NOT EVER TRADE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIS IF THE GAMETYPE IS LMOTH
Proving Grounds: 1 trow, 3 heron (always) minimum 3 artillery units, rest mauls. ghols are optional but 1 or 2 is never a bad thing. do not, under any circumstances, heal the [blam] wight. this will result in much verbal abuse from your team.
Gyre: 2 fetch or your team will wish to kill you
Gimble: 2 dwarfs, max archers, 2 ghols for puss... or you will be verbally castrated by your team.
Trow: 5 trow, 27 myrk or you are really gonna hear about it
Demise: 4 herons gdi, always
K I'm not gonna go through all the maps.. but the above mentioned trades are the important ones. SOme maps are a little more versatile, but not those ones.
2. Drop your satchels - blowing your own team up will result in severe verbal abuse.
3. Read in game chat - I know alot of it is mundane bullshit, but when the captain tells you to do something, do it. This is most often the reason behind the captain swearing at you and taking your units.
4. If a better player offers you advice, listen to it.
K those are the basics... work on these things, and you shouldn't have as many problems in team games.

IMO, if experienced players are going to get pissed off at someone for being a newb captain, they should volunteer to be captain if a newb asks if s/he can join someone. I don't like captaining big 2 team games much, and I know I suck at it, but other then when I play with ppl who know me well the silence I generally hear when I ask if I can join someone is deafening.
Experienced players should be smart - enough to know that it's 10x better to be captain with a newb on your team than to HAVE a newb as your captain - and be willing to step up instead of just being abusive when Myth's random team creator gives them a newb captain.
4. If a better player offers you advice, listen to it.
That's great advice but in the middle of a game how is a newb supposed to know if someone's advice is good or not? If it's obvious like "watch out for that deep water - might be a wight" that's one thing, but I often have teammates "volunteer" advice that is more a personal opinion about how a certain map/unit should be played than it is "good advice".

Which part are you responding to?
The part where I call out lame-ass Myth old-timers who refuse to volunteer to be captain then whine and mewl like little girls when they get a newb captain? Or was it the part about newb players not being willing to follow every bit of (often contradictory profanity laden) 'advice' from other players on their team?
ps. Nice use of caps, it was subtle, but I think it really helped you make your point more convincingly.

blah blah blah lame-ass Myth old-timers blah blah blah newb players blah blah blah
how does fitting into BOTH of those categories feel, old man?
and why are you so [blam] hung up on my use of the word 'advice'... I didn't even give examples. the bits advice I refer to are things like "don't give 20 archers to 1 person", "don't clump archers, they have puss", "drop satchels", "u have the wrong puss", "move the wight", "get off the dud", "go to the river, not the flag", "I said E not SW", "don't fight 14 archers with a red dorf", "heal arc ::taunts:: HEAL ARC", "run", "no, RUN", "contest the flag", "aim for the red arc not the 23 green ones", "SPREAD", etc. etc. You would have to be borderline retarded/toecutter/father xmas to mistake any of these for 'bad advice'. stop angrily responding to threads just for the sake of exercising your good grammer and use of punctuation. nerd.

Like a glove, baby like a glove.
'old'? heh. I prefer 'experienced'.
..and why are you so [blam] hung up on my use of the word 'advice'...
Not hung up, just asking how a newbie is reasonably supposed to evaluate whether the 'advice' (aka 'verbal abuse') spewed at him in game from drunken rank h00rs is worth taking or not. You don't have to answer though - it was a rhetorical question.
