To Register, reply to this message saying you're in. Registration will close: Friday October 12th.
Official Settings: Map: Gimble in the Wabe Game Type: Last Man on the Hill Difficulty Level: Normal Time Limit: 07:00 Minutes Planning Time: 00:45 seconds
Official Rules: 1. Single Elimination,One match only, make sure you're warmed up. This is NOT best of 3,5 etc... you lose your done. 2. Must play in the ranked room and be registered with Marius(for tracking purposes). 3. Players must schedule their own matches. 4. Both players at start must yell "official 1v1" for authentification 5. Any player that drops is considered Disqualified unless a rematch is agreed upon. 6. If a player starts on the flag his opponent is entitled to a restart.*(see below) 7. Have Fun. 8. I will moderate the tourney(and lose in first round)
*In the event that someone starts on the flag his opponent may request a restart if he wishes. You are allowed 2 Restarts per person per round or both players can agree to play it out, or both players can restart until no one is on flag. Basically work it out together it aint exactly world politics. Restarts are only allowed if someone starts on flag or otherwised agreed upon.
Seeding: All players will be randomly seeded into a bracket. If there is an initial odd number in Round 1 a random player will receive a BYE for that week. If there is an odd number after Round 1 the player who has the most percentage of units left and fastest victory time will receive the BYE.
Player Protection: Take screenshots/ save the recordings of your game in the event that someone tries to bitch thier way out of a loss. I will be relying on the Marius Ranked tracking system so you can appeal special cases(that I dont want to deal with or make descisions on) to me as to prove your point. But really dont be a jerk, play honest, its not the end of the world if you lose.
Tournament Duration: Round 1 will last approximately 1.5 weeks once registration is closed. Players can ask for an extension if they are having timezone problems but I want to keep the tourney moving so we can get through all the maps and game types. Once a Round is complete we will move to the next round regardless if it has been 1.5 weeks.
Final Note: Have fun. Make this fun and I will come up with some kind of champions tournament of some sort when we get farther in. Next Tournament will be "I'll fall on your grave".
If you need help with timezones http://www.worldtimezone.com/

90% of the registered players are probably blissfully unaware of the unbalance in gimble starts... when your 2 most experienced players mention it... you should probably just take it as fact i understand your point about potentially getting 2 [censored] starts in a row... but reducing the odds is certainly a start. best out of 5 or 7 would definitely be overkill considering we are playing only 1 map... but best out of 3 really makes sense. considering most matches will be over in 2 games, it really doesn't eat up much time either, so really I'd think the choice is obvious. your call though.

reasons why i want best of 3: (not just because of some start, and just in case u think i didn't put thought into it. 1) because sometimes your dwarves destroy all of your own units 2) because sometimes you start at a [censored] spot 3) because after my 3rd game playing people i get bored 4) because taking 3 games takes longer than 5 games 5) gives a better basis for 'whos better' (though that's not what crystal-clear decides tournaments, of course) 6) any myth game can go either way, recovering and coming back, thats the myth tournament drama we all love. 7) i walk my wights with my melee 8) because 3>1, and 5 does not equal fun 9) actually i don't care, but 1 game sounds like bullshit, so 5>1 10) because we all need a lil more myth in our lives, these extra games im looking for sounds like the meds the doctor prescrbed.
i can't give you 50% but i can blab and forget what im talking about

Thanks to Ba'ak of the Order of H'Pak, there is a version of Gimble in which you can choose the start locations. It is optimized for CTF Gimble, meaning that there are only 3 2-start locations. They are the ones that people usually face off with when there are 6 people and 3 initial 1v1 battles.
You can download the map here - http://www.gimbler.us/maps/GimbleHeadtoHead_v1.zip
I was planning to announce a similar CTF Gimble tourney but wanted to wait until people had fully migrated over to mariusnet. URzooked is not over yet because he has to get Myth again (no CD).
Oh ALSO - SIGN ME UP FOR THE TOURNEY PLEASE... my email is METAPERL@GMAIL.COM if you need it.
