I have a ton of Myth III maps if anyone has a place I could upload them to. Among them, Classic MapPack 2.5 is a must, as it has all the favorites from Myth I & II. Is there a Web or FTP site that still has Myth III maps online. If so, post the link here!
Hope to see some players online this Sunday!

According to the Tain's instructions, you can't upload maps unless you are the author or have permission to upload them. I would think that would be especially true of things with how-shall-we-say... "rather restrictive" terms of use.
Perhaps check the udogs hotline site and if you have something that isn't there, offer to send it to them?
http://hl.udogs.net/files/Gaming/%20Myth%20Series/Myth%20III%20-%20The%20Wolf%20Age/Maps/
If you have files not at udogs and have any problems uploading them there, send me zips and I can probably find a place for them at mything.org.

On this note: does anyone know if there are instructions to Ballistic somewhere? I have the app but I'm having difficultly figuring it out.

Two players on Satuday and three players on Sunday! Maybe we could add some more next weekend or even sometime this week...
Make sure you have Classic MapPack 2.5.tag. Let me know if you need it. Ideally, I'd like to upload it somewhere or have somebody post a link to a site that is currently hosting it. We'll figure something out, even if I have to spit into 10 RAR files and e-mail it to you!

I don't think there was ever any official documentation released with Ballistic, the most I ever saw was a series of discussions on a now dead Myth3 related website. There was ONE post that was a rough primer on mapmaking which through the magic of the internet you can find along with the Myth III mapmaking related articles from the forum I mentioned above at the Myth graveyard site if you search on the word "Ballistic". A few of the articles that show up in the search results have the word "ballistic" in them but aren't related to the Myth II map editor, but most of the articles in the list are the discussions from the dead forums - grouped by topic.
Out of the resulting list, the following articles are all Ballistic-the-editor related. The primer I mentioned is bolded and direct linked for your convenience.
Ballistic (Tag and World Editor...) Ballistic Colormap Basics Ballistic Media Tools Basics Ballistic Missle Accuracy Ground Sprite Tutorial How can I extract texture stacks from Myth III maps Myth III Mapmaking Tutorial 01 Pregame images and Overhead maps The Details about Detail Textures TWA: Scenery and Units (Q&A's) TWA: Scripting (How?) TWA: Solo Porting Tidbit
note: Since Ballistic was based on the original (and incomplete) Myth III map editor "Vengeance" there are a couple of older Myth III mapmaking tutorials written for Vengeance that _might_ have some useful info. (I don't make Myth III maps so I can't vouch for their accuracy in regards to Ballistic)

I'm pretty sure the latest Creation set for Myth III is v2.6. I don't recall if there was anything changed in the maps other than that they appeared separately. The Classic MapPack was at v2.5 I believe.
What I have looks like this:
- Hills of the Crow MP v2.6
- M3 BarbarianValley MP v2.6
- M3 EnVertigo MP v2.6
- M3 RiverOfLife MP v2.6
Fidel: when I unzip your "bagrada_v1.tag", it seems to be slightly different than the one I have (possibly just in the header). Anyone know what the diff might be?
Q: Was there a version of Ballistic later than 1.01?

Thanks vinylrake - those instructions made all the difference. Now i just have to figure out why my maps are crashing. They show up, but cause M3 to crash when loaded. Maybe because I'm using Ballistic 1.0. Anyone know where 1.01 is?

Hey fidelix,
Thanks for providing an FTP site! I checked out the maps on the site, and I have lots to add.
In particular, I noticed you have Classic MapPack SB v2 and Classic MapPack TFL v2 on the site. I believe they have both been unified into Classic MapPack 2.5. I doubt you would be able to have all three in your plugins folder at once. Anybody able to verify this?
Anyway, I'll send you an e-mail to ask for FTP access.
Thanks again!

There isn't any problem with having different versions of a map(s) in your plugins folder as long as you only make one at a time active. I beta test maps and plugins and sometimes I have 10 or 20 of the same map/plugin in my plugins folder with just slightly different version#s and have never had a problem. I could see how if you made more than one identically named map active at the same time then tried to play a game on one version of the map Myth might get confused and not know which map with the same name it should load...
However m3 loads plugins differently than m2. Instead of activating certain plugins when you host like m2, m3 loads all non-tagset plugins when you start up the game. There also seems to be a limit on the number of maps that can be selected by the host. To host some maps you would have to remove others from your plugin folder first (the map limit only affects hosting the maps, not playing them). Im not totally sure if the tags would conflict, but it's probably better to just have one version in plugins.
Q: Was there a version of Ballistic later than 1.01?
I dont think there was ever a formal release, but I have "Ballistic b136" and I believe there was also a later version available at one point.

Thanks to all who responded and to Fidelex for providing an FTP site. I just started 250+ MB upload of all the maps that were not yet on his site. If you download anything from his site, make sure to get Classic MapPack 2.5. It has all the old favs from M1 and M2, but with shiny new graphics!

Hmm no luck - only Ballistic 1.0 - not 1.01. I'll keep looking. This forum is great for finding new maps though!

Thanks to Fidelex, you can download M3 maps from the space he provided. Check out the following link:
http://myth2br.com/downloads/?d=_usuarios/akuma
Make sure you at least snag the Classic MapPack 2.5.tag! And if you have the old Classic MapPack SB v2 and Classic MapPack TFL v2, make sure to take them out of your plugin's folder to prevent confusion and possible problems.

Very cool, Akuma (& Fidelix)!
But are all the files in that folder unzipped?

Indeed they are unzipped. The thought didn't even cross my mind, but I suppose I could have saved some bandwidth and disk space. Still, these files aren't that big and with broadband they are not going to take that long to download. I'll remember to zip 'em next time.
