Is it possible for some one to mess with your comp if your not hosting? I was playing cap and my team mate was demanding units and being obnoxious. Then he demanded the rest, so i lost my primary units and gave him the rest. heh. At the end of the game Myth crashed and i cant get it to start again.
Yes. It happened to me once on bungie.net! I was playing this ffa and suddenly my units names changed for no reason! Then I was saying stuff I didn't type. It was scary.
Gained access via Myth itself? Not likely. The Myth software does connect directly to those who are hosting games though, which means they could gain access to your computer if it had an open trojan or similar insecurity like UPNP.
I remember in the AOE2 days people could "TRY" to use the game port to hack you but thats when my Zone Alarm when off and lagged me up. But they couldnt get thru. Just make me lag.
Nasty Hackerses. Im guesing its from a prior intrusion.

The Truth is Out There
For clarity, I didn't mean it seemed unlikely that Zak was alive for bnet, but that it was unlikely that hacking can happen through Myth. But I'm not a hacking/programming guy, so what do I know?
1. The security or lack or security of Mariusnet would be irrelevant in this case. Once you join a game, there is no connection between you and Mariusnet; you are connected to the Host of the game.
2. Hacking through it is quite unlikely
3. The other incident:

The names changing... I have no idea, and I would be shocked if it was actually doable. The text thing..... there was a period of time on BNet when folks would use a packet-sniffer to read what was being said as all traffic was passed entirely "in the clear". It was nothing more than a parlor trick. Given that, it would seem that it would *techinically* seem possible to craft packets to send to the server that would mimic someone else (still just a parlor trick - smoke & mirrors, not an actual hack), but I HIGHLY doubt they would have been doing such a thing from control of your client. Part of what PMnet did, and as a result MNet, was to add encryption to the traffic being passed... so this would seem much less likely these days.

I know I tend to be a lazy programmer, but I still can't imagine anyone with enough knowledge/skills to decrypt the packets going between players (and/or the server) in a Myth game taking the time to actually do it. The 'reward' is just too tiny... no recognition, nothing to be gained.
