Hi,

I have a NETGEARWNR2000 router and I have a bit of a problem with setting it up for myth2 hosting:

What kind of protocol is it: TCP? UDP? or TCP/UDP?
What should I put in starting port and ending port?
Server ip adress - I recon its my ip adress.

thanks in advance.

For the IP, use the local IP the hosting computer uses. TCP and the port is 3453. So a range of 3453 - 3453 works.

I did all that, put down my firewall as well but still can't host games. Also where can I check my local ip adress because when I put the one provided by my isp it gives me 'local IP must be in the same subnet...'

If you are on Windows, go the Start > Run > type "cmd" and hit enter. Then in the black window, type "ipconfig" and hit enter. The area next to "IP Address" will tell you your computer's local IP.

If you are using Vista or 7 then instead of "Run" you will see a text field at the bottom where you can type "cmd". This site will tell you your global IP address (the one your ISP said you have).

Did you "allow myth" In your FW settings, Windows FW settings and your router settings? Sometimes, and in no particular pattern, I get a FW. Even though I hosted the day before. I run through all the info. Every thing is correct, but still no one can join and the test button on the left says FAIL! I have to reboot my router and then I can host again. I have no clue to why it happens.

that happens to me arcan sometimes. i think your router assigns your pc a ip that changes periodically.in your router settings you can enable dhcp reservations and that will allow your router to assign the same ip to your pc every time. so this might solve your problem.

also in your internet accessing properties(not router properties), you can make your ip static (in otherwords your cpu tells your router that this is your ip stop giving you a rndm one) -but you need a bunch of things for that- also allowing the program might not do it, you might have to open the port seperate from a program in your firewall.

Yes, all the numbers match and the allows are checked but no hosting. After I cold boot the router and modem, same numbers, every thing is fine. Maybe I just need new equipment.!?

make sure you have not activated port triggering for the myth port. triggering and forwarding are 2 different things and if the port triggering for myth is active forwarding will not work.

I don't know how good portforward.com is across the board but I do know that it only covers one of the several versions of the Apple airport software out in the wild and that even after setting the Airport router properly it often fails to work. Apple sucks - thats why I have a dozen Macs. YMMV

if that doesn't work its your virus protection software(will have a fw), and or your original firewall that comes with cpu you need to open ports in those too(not just allow the programs...
