anybody here do iphone development?

i had a couple questions like:
1) where do you get the SDK
2) how do submissions work
3) are there any restrictions to what you can/cant do? (like voip im sure isnt allowed for obvious reasons)
4) can you bundle an itunes app that requires a computer install component as well? (wont get into more detail here - I have an idea!)

ty in advance!

lazy dac, all you need to do is enter 'iphone sdk' into google and the first link is to apple's iphone dev center with sublinks to topics like:

1) The SDK you can find through Google, but if you're serious about iphone programming, you should probably sign up for the developer program.

http://developer.apple.com/programs/iphone/

It's $99 a year, and you get access to all iPhone SDK builds and the beta builds, as well as being able to actually install+debug Apps on a physical device instead of in the simulator, which can be quite useful, as the simulator doesn't truly simulate the apps, so it won't always catch all of the errors.

2) Haven't submitted an app yet, but I will soon, so I should be able to comment on the submission process later.

3) There are several restrictions that I'm aware of (not that any of them have really affected me). But aside from the obvious illicit activities like SIM unlocking or writing over other program's data, there is also a 100-page human interface guideline which I haven't read. My thoughts in this area are "If they reject the app for whatever reason, I'll just address their issue and resubmit" instead of browsing through hundreds of pages trying to find if I violated a couple paragraphs. But if you have a specific question about the a key element of your app, it would probably be best to email Apple to make sure it's allowed before you put lots of time into it.

4) You can't bundle an iPhone app with a computer application per-se, but there are many iPhone apps out there that do this. One example is Mobile Mouse (http://www.mobilemouse.com/) which turns your iPhone into a wireless pointer mouse. It requires you to get the iPhone App as well as install a small program in your computer to get it working, which you download from their website. So while you cannot bundle both together in the App Store, you can allow users to download the computer application for free off of your website.

Hope this helps.
