Version 1.5 not working??

hey everyone, i just started playing Myth TFL again and im playing on my new vista laptop. i looked up some info and i figured it would need some sort of patchinge etc. anyways i found out the 1.5 patch or new version on projectmagma would enable me to play, and it HAS, however whenever I win the mission, or hit restart it boots me back to the desktop... its very weird. I am wondering if I need to move it into a different file, or if i did something wrong. i'm new to the site but im a dedicated player (or was) so if anyone could help you would have a new loyal member

After it crashes there should be something in a file called myth_log.txt inside your Myth TFL folder. Please post the contents so if possible we can see what is going wrong.
Additionally, you can download the Myth II demo from http://projectmagma.net/what/ and play it online on Mariusnet with the same username and password as you've used for this website.

Have you updated your video card drivers? By the way, there is a Myth 2 plugin that lets you play the TFL campaign under Myth 2. Also, Myth 2 has a "TFL gameplay" setting to let the game act like TFL. And finally a TFL Interface plugin that makes Myth2 look like TFL.

I wonder if one of your files is corrupt or something. I'm on XP and TFL runs fine, but I guess I should test it out on the Vista comp I got. There are a few things to try.
Try changing your computer's resolution. TFL will use your desktop's resolution. I know that 1024x768 works.
If that does not work maybe we can try compatibility mode. Right click properties on the Myth_TFL.exe file. Click on the compatibility tab and check the box for Compatibility Mode. Select Windows XP.

Is this TFL folder old or was it recently installed? If it is old, one thing you can try is reinstalling it. Then updating to 1.5 afterwards. I've heard in the past how this helped some people, something to do with updating from TFL to 1.4 and then 1.5 causing them issues.
As for the "old" exe, what happens is that the update does not get rid of the exe it has. It renames it to have the word "old" at the end.

An admin won't really be that much more helpful unless they were to suggest something I have forgotten about. Besides, you might have better luck over at the project magma forums where the programmers would more likely take notice. However, it is not the first time someone has tried to get TFL running and was unable to.
I was looking through some older threads at the magma forums about similar threads. Turned out in one of them I posted a similar myth log as you after running TFL on the vista comp I have. But I was able to run it without crashing. Do you have vista updated? What about your video card graphics? Did you try a different rendering option in TFL's prefs?
If you can't get it to run, your only option would be M2's The Fallen Levels plugin using vTFL mode to enable TFL gameplay in Myth 2.

Om, Myth TFL 1.3 had a bug which prevented it from working if more than ~640mb of RAM is installed.
I think the old Myth II did the same if more than 2gb was installed.
