(tell me if this is in the wrong place, 1st post ever)
well i have a problem, we have 2 computers in our house, 1mac, 1pc, and me and my dad have been trying to connect over the internet, but each time we try to join one of each others games we get error -4994 and says that there is a fire wall or no more player space. i have checked, there are no fire walls active (far as i can tell) and we can join other games with diffrent hosts fine. i have updated both myths to 1.7.1 and mac is running the universal app, gonna try with pc power now...
nup that didn't work ether, also, there are no plugins active on ether computer.

terrabile news, my dreams have been crushed, the net gets confused making fixing the error impossable

but i've been meaning to get a lag cable, so now i have too

The metaserver does not seem to allow a player to connect to a game hosted by the same IP address the player uses. Meaning, both of those computers are in the same network and therefore use the same external IP address. The only way to play together would be to do a TCP/IP game via LAN outside of Marius.

first question, can other players join your host? if not check your firewall. as for what pyro said, i was able to join my own hosted game (although from the same computer using 2 myths)

further more, it must be a firewall issue, i was able to host one one computer, and join my own game from another computer.

well thanks for looking guys...but i still have one question, do i have to be on marius net when conecting on lan? because if i do then i'd think that you would get the same feed back loup as if i was on the internet...i gonna asume no cause it's lan but it always pays to be sure...

LAN is not on marius. when you click multiplayer, next to "mariusnet" you see the word "other" their you can host/join LAN games

Just to clear up one small thing: It isn't that the metaserver does not allow this, the metaserver has no say in it at all.

The issue is that you both are connecting through the same port from the same IP, and that port will be forwarded to one of your machines so that it can host. So, when the metaserver sends a response to either computer, it always go to the one that has the port forwarded to it.



What I do know works is this:

The one that has the port forwarded to it, set it up as an Internet Connection Sharing host, then set that machine's IP as the default gateway of the other machine. This way, all of the traffic for both machines travels through the one machine, and the forwarded machine will actually know what to do with packets it receives for the other machine.
