I'm a total newb, having played some single player, and watched my mate play online games, and i must confess, the speed with which people berate other players is slightly daunting.
Shouldn't there be a newbie/inexperienced area for gaming, where people can play other players without the expectation of actually being a pro?
Things really have changed from the "old days". It has become standard procedure to slam your teammates when they goof up. This also makes peeps scared to play different maps that they may not be great at..like Urban Recon Carnage. Yeah, I said it, peeps are scared of playing Carnage because they are intimidated by boneheads pounding on them for making bad moves. This includes "experienced players"..like Bonky for instance. He will drop out of a Carny because he's just too scared to play and this is not only once, over and over, he dumps because he can't play carny and he's scared to look bad while losing. Personally, I'd rather lose a good, big game of Carnage than win a big game of Recon elim. If peeps can pick you out as a "newbie", well expect to get some flack, unless you're real good. Don't be scared of Carnage, it's OK. You need to learn to DRIVE A TANK!
i would rather lose, figure out why i lost or my team lost, explain to my teammates why we lost (whether it was their fault or not), etc than just play the blame game. Its called learning from mistakes and improving on making less of them!

Hi everyone,
I'm going to practice the game now and again and see if I can get decent enough at it...
Is there by any chance a multiplayer guide available here? I'll do a search, and if there isn't I think compiling one would be a great help to new players.
I'm going to be terrible in-game initially, (and perhaps afterwards) so please be warned. I won't be an ass however, I hope the same goes for everyone else
I started playing Myth 2 in '98 but have only had a good internet connection for about a year now. I've played a game or two over the years and was destroyed utterly much to the annoyance of my team mates.
Do people play co-op much and what maps are popular now?

try these:
Myth for Dummies
Starter Guide
If you can't find what you are looking for in one of those, just try asking people in the lobby. Usually someone will be willing to help you.

I say don't bother about people yelling. For that matter, you may also find numerous players eager to help you improve. Otherwise, you could also play coop, which is fairly active. Be sure to get a few coop plugs (Across the Gjol, Dream of Death, Defile of the Dramus, Mazz, ...). You could also play CWR (civil war reloaded) in coop with us. Also, if you like it, you could also play ww2. One has to admmit the learning curve is not a steep as it is in regular myth2.

dude nuke, guess what's the problem? it's not the newbies, it's the players that actually think they're really good, like you, but never even manage to read the chat or watch the time.... and eventhough having played for 10 years.... still don't know how to position themselves. I'm constantly trying to give orders when playing ww2 teamgames.... you think i ever get responses? usually not... and if there are, it's the new players that like to learn something. most "oldschool" players that after 10 years have managed to learn how to dodge don't listen at all and tend to do idiotic moves. and at THEM i will shout and that will never change unless YOU change. i remember last time we played urban recon carnage.... 1v1.... you dropped when i had you 80%-20%..... now wtf was that? why would you drop ? maybe to not look bad?
you constantly keep bragging about how good you are at urban, you are mediocre. the only good player i've encountered recently when playing urban recon carnage, was welly. Oh I'm sure theres others, take mfats for example or even sam, he'd crush you eventhough he probably hasn't played a game of ww2 in .... i dont know, 5 years?
have a nice day

rap Where did I say I was so great at Carny anymore? Your quotes, if you can find any, will be pretty old. I don't play 1 on 1 Carny anymore, I'm too old for that and get over that old game of carny, dude. Really, you hang on to one game and keep pounding on one game over and over. You are better than me at carny 1 on 1, there, I said it you're great.(rolls eyes) You have never dropped a game? If you say no, I don't belive you. BTW Welly is unbeatable in 1 on 1 carny as far as I am concerned. Go ahead and try to play him. It's a douchebag attitude like yours that gets us in this position! You don't see me pounding on teammates for making mistakes, can you say the same? And I challenge you to captain a decent sized game of carny vs me, not 1 on 1! You are so great, I could never beat you 1 on 1 in anything!(except maybe getting laid) You are such a stud, dude! Lighten up!
