I've been playing some Myth 3 solo the past week or so, and I am kind of suprised to find that I actually like it!
It *feels* a bit different than Myth1/2 (seems slower), but it's a lot of fun - and some of the new monsters/attacks are really cool (the evil fairies with their portable pits of grasping hands are extremely freaky and seem like something from a horror movie), the ogres and iron trow and impressive and scary (like Trow were the first time you saw them in TFL bagrada), and some of the maps are GORGEOUS! -- seriously, the Mazzarin's Crypt map is amazing - the way you can light the braziers for illumination, see the shadows of your units on the walls as they pass infront of a light source, use the light to dispel creepy fog? All very nice eye candy and very atmospheric.
I won't say I like it AS much as TFL or SB, and I haven't played any multiplayer yet (odds are low I ever will given the dearth of M3 players) but the solo is a decent game - I know the original release had some mega bugs, and there are some cheezy things that make it look like they ran out of money (the screen shots of a 3D render of a character from the game for a cut screen) but the latest patch is quite playable and I can really see how much effort the artists put into the units/effects/maps.
It's definitely worth trying out if you like solo campaigns set in the Myth world.
