I get what your talking about.

Much of the concept of freedom has been lost. It was once an idea to break away from tyranny and other controlling powers. And as all of these forces faded away through time, the need to work to bring freedom lesseneed and formed into the normal way of life but the passion of the idea never really died, and people still feel strongly about rebelling against authority... so now a days it seems freedom has been transformed into Let me do what ever I want and the expense of others. When I think the original intent was let us do what we can for the compassion of others, so that we may have together what we want.

The popular definition of freedom is the ability to do whatever your want, but that is a delusion. Laws restrict the ability to do whatever you want, so a better definition is one I stated earlier: freedom is the ability to do what you believe is right. For those people who believe that murdering is right, you can get that freedom through the democratic process.
That's the beauty of democracy - if most people don't want murder to be legal, then they won't legalize it. A dictator can legalize it if he wants to. With democracy, we have - I cannot repeat this often enough - the freedom to do what we believe is right.

I used "tolerance" because, even though most people preach tolerance towards other religions, the only religion they don't tolerate is Christianity. Otherwise, why can Muslims bring the Queran to school but Christians can't bring the Bible to school? I have to agree with you, though. I hate the word "tolerance." It was meant to have a slightly sarcastic undertone. ;\)
