Flying Flip By Request

At the request of some folks who still enjoy and play Myth III - I have decided that I will be making the existing Myth III patches and plugins available via download here likely sometime in the next two to three weeks. I am also considering releasing the Universal Binary beta version one of our developers was working on this past spring.

I never saw the appeal of a "universal binary" the idea is that you could run all 3 of the games from within a single executable.

Big deal, so I only have one exe rather than 3, i don't see why that's a worthwhile endeavour. And what about people that don't own all 3 games?

It just hardly seems worth it, but I may be missing some pieces of the bigger picture.

Lets you run it on an intel mac without using PPC emulation. That's what it means in this case.

ahh yes, i've heard that terminilogy before, perhaps that is what they are referring to.

However, i HAVE heard of a plan for the "universal binary" that I described above.

Doobie, I recall that exact thing being discussed on the FF forums not that long ago.

I made a thread about this already, but oh well \:p

I've got all three Myth games and would be intresting to see it & how it work but if it's for the intel mac then I won't be using it seeing Im on a pc.

Any rumors about someone taking up where Flying flip stopped?

Also is there anyway to alter any Myth 3 file to make the units to bleed as much as in TFL and SB?

I highly doubt it.

I sincerely doubt Blades would share the current source code with anyone. The only hope would be if one of the recent developers leaked it to enalbe someone else to take up the charge, but even then Magma is probably the only group right now that I'd trust with it, and I don't think they have any interest in M3 at all.

Found this:

"Myth III Update v1.3.1
This update addresses several key functionality and game play issues which have been a part of the Myth III experience since it's launch in 2001. Currently, there is no supported multi-player metaserver for Myth III, however this looks to change in the early part of 2008 when a new, independent metaserver service will launch. We will have more details on this as they become known."

It's reason enough for me not to give up hope on the future of Myth III. Yey!

Yeah, it's old...a couple of months I think. That was put up around the time of his "release" posting here.

Hey, if someone else fires up a metaserver, more power to em.

Some people find security in having imaginary friends, some people like to believe Santa will bring them presents if they are good all year long.

If you want to believe a new Myth III server will be released to the public in 2008 by someone with a longstanding dislike of the very community who would be using such a server - than be my guest.

Whatever keeps me going...

Also, I think Myth III is a great game and deserves a future.

No argument there. I think having more than one game server active and functioning is a good thing for the community.

As for Myth III - I've only played a teensy bit of the solo Myth III campaign, and I didn't find it as immediately arresting as Myth I or II was, but it was still a fun game.

I've still never gone past the 3rd level of the single player.

I tried the multi a fair bit when it first came out, but the gameplay was just too different from Myth/MythII for it to really hold me.

I can agree with you that the solo part of the game isn't as good as TFL or SB, but the online is as good and a lot more friendly to the eye.
